Canadian Qatari Chamber of Commerce (CQCHAM): A Canadian Initiative to Strengthen Economic Ties Between Canada and Qatar

In a move reflecting the growing interest in strengthening economic and trade relations between Canada and the State of Qatar, the Canadian Qatari Chamber of Commerce (CQCHAM) is emerging as a Canadian-based platform dedicated to advancing bilateral cooperation, supporting the business community, and creating new opportunities for investment and strategic partnerships between the two countries.

Based in Montreal, Quebec, CQCHAM aims to strengthen economic connections between the Canadian and Qatari markets by facilitating business networking, connecting companies and investors, and identifying promising opportunities across multiple sectors. Through these efforts, the Chamber seeks to help transform shared economic potential into practical, sustainable, and value-driven business partnerships.

Mr. Saad Al-Dabbagh

The Chamber is chaired by Qatari businessman Mr. Saad Al-Dabbagh, reflecting its commitment to strengthening engagement with Qatar’s business community and building effective bridges between the private sectors of both countries. This leadership approach supports the development of commercial relationships that serve the mutual economic interests of Canada and Qatar.

Operating from its headquarters in Montreal, Canada, CQCHAM focuses on developing its relationships and professional network within Qatar’s business community. Its objectives include supporting Canadian companies seeking opportunities in the Qatari market while promoting opportunities for Qatari businesses and investors to establish partnerships, explore investments, and expand their presence in Canada.

The initiative also complements the work of the Canada–Qatar Business Forum (CQBF), which continues to support bilateral business relations, strengthen connections among companies and institutions, and advance initiatives aimed at expanding trade, investment, and commercial cooperation between Canada and Qatar.

CQCHAM’s establishment comes at a time when opportunities for bilateral collaboration span a range of sectors, including technology and innovation, food security, investment, advanced industries, professional services, and other areas with potential for mutually beneficial partnerships. By encouraging dialogue and facilitating connections between stakeholders, the Chamber aims to help businesses identify opportunities, exchange expertise, and develop relationships that can lead to long-term commercial cooperation.

Through this initiative, the Canadian Qatari Chamber of Commerce seeks to foster a more connected business environment between Canada and Qatar, improve access to investment opportunities, and strengthen engagement between the two countries’ business communities. Its focus is on practical cooperation, cross-border networking, and the development of sustainable economic relationships.

The establishment of CQCHAM underscores its intended role as a Canadian-based platform open to international partnerships and committed to serving the business communities of both countries. By promoting trade, facilitating investment connections, and encouraging private-sector collaboration, the Chamber aims to contribute to the continued development of economic relations between Canada and the State of Qatar.
